The TableTennisDaily team returned to Bristol as Champions following the conclusion of the British League season with 4 victories on the final weekend in Bromley.
The team, made up of Bristol based players, led by Dan Ives started the weekend in first place just ahead of North Ayrshire from Scotland and Bromley based in the Midlands. Saturday’s play saw them battle with Woodfield first and comfortably won the tie 9-0 with a team comprising of Garth Kinlocke, Christoph Zickert, Dan Ives and Anthony Kent. The afternoon saw a confrontation with Draycott from Nottinghamshire and the result was a pretty straightforward 9-0 with Garth Kinlocke taking man of the match.
The crunch Sunday saw the team welcome back, ex Polish International, Jan Surwilo into the frame with matches versus North Ayrshire and Plymouth. In a spicy affair, the TTD team managed to overcome their illustrious Scottish opponents by a 6-3 scoreline virtually handing the title to the Bristol based outfit. 6 of the 9 matches went the distance to a 5th set showing how closely matched the teams actually were.
The afternoon match against Plymouth sealed the championship with the TTD team coming out 7-2 victors with confirmation that they had won 14 matches out of 14 during the playoff season.
A special mention for Garth Kinlocke who picked up the player of the year having picked up 25 wins out of 28 matches as well as the other member who all averaged over 80% throughout the season.
